Diamonds
Diamonds are the hardest material found in nature. It is the clearest material, giving its unique capabilities of reflecting light in the most beautiful way.
The diamonds used in Sophie Bille Brahe jewellery adhere to the Kimberley Process. The Kimberley process unites administrations, civil societies, and industry in reducing the flow of conflict diamonds (rough diamonds used to finance wars against governments) around the world.
Sophie Bille Brahe feels a deep sense of responsibility for using a precious material that has been taken out of the ground in the right way, so the diamonds can be treasured for years to come as future heirlooms.
When shopping for diamond jewellery four criterias are used, known as the four c's:
Carat
Refers to the actual weight measurement of the diamonds. The larger the diamond is, the greater the rarity and therefore it is more valuable.
You can see the total carat weight on each product.
Colour
Refers to the actual color of the diamond. the closer to being colorless the diamond is, the higher is the level of brilliance.
Sophie Bille Brahe jewelry in 18K gold features colour F-G (Top Wesselton) diamonds, which are nearly colourless.
Clarity
Refers to how many irregularities and inclusions a diamond has. less light will come from the diamond if there are many inclusions. the rarity and value of the diamond increase as these imperfections are not visible to the naked eye.
Sophie Bille Brahe uses a clarity of VVS which stands for very, very slightly included.
Cut
Refers to the facets and their proportions on the surface. in a well proportioned stone light enters from above and is reflected in all the facets of the bottom.
Sophie Bille Brahe uses mainly brilliant cut diamonds, which radiates outwards and enhance the diamonds sparkle.
